With climate investments, there is hope
The yearly UN Climate Conference (COP) is a big milestone for the future of our planet.
Last year, we met in Glasgow and highlighted the urgency of adaptation funding. At NDF, we have worked hard towards this priority, by providing flexible and catalytic financing to adaptation and mitigation efforts in developing countries. We contribute to high-impact projects, helping millions of people to benefit from climate and disaster-resilience, adaptation solutions and access to clean energy. We have built strong partnerships to leverage our contributions.
Still, at this year’s conference we find ourselves at a crossroads. We need bold and ambitious solutions to adapt to the consequences of climate change, reduce our emissions and find sustainable solutions for us to survive. COP27 is vital when it comes to decisions that will affect not only Africa, but all the world’s continents. There is no safe zone in climate change.
The Nordic countries have been committed to this work for decades. We have developed top-notch innovation and successful cooperation models. We must support countries most impacted by climate change and its devastating implications. We cannot and will not act as bystanders. We are here to provide solutions, financing, and partnerships to address this global challenge.
As we work towards COP27 and the global targets to achieve concrete results, it is important to remember - there is still hope. There is hope when the world works towards a common goal. There is hope when we are aligned in our commitments. There is hope when we take risks and invest in the fight against climate change.
NDF will actively participate in events, discussions, and meetings in COP27. We continuously seek to broaden our horizons and create successful partnerships.
I’m looking forward to meeting you there and finding solutions together.
